Mike Ankers DTC-CDTGoDTCoE
Hi, I'm Mike — dog enthusiast, head treat dispenser, and force-free trainer.
I believe training your dog should be the most enjoyable part of your week — not a battle of wills over a stolen sock or a chaotic tug-of-war down the pavement!
With a background in Mental healthcare, I bring a lot of patience, empathy, and human understanding to my sessions. (Turns out, dogs and humans aren't all that different when it comes to stress, learning, and needing a bit of encouragement!)
I'm obsessed with understanding what makes our dogs tick! To make sure you get the best, up-to-date guidance, I hold training qualifications with the Dog Training College (DTC), the Guild of Dog Trainers, and the Centre of Excellence (CoE). And because safety comes first (and dogs are absolute experts at getting into mischief!), I'm double certified in Canine First Aid with both DTC and CoE.

My training approach
My training approach is 100% force-free and reward-based. That means:
- Lots of positive motivation — high-value treats are my co-trainers.
- Zero pressure or intimidation — no outdated 'pack leader' myths here.
- Practical, everyday skills that turn tricky situations into positive wins.
Where I work
Based in Dalry, I offer training across the surrounding area, the Garnock Valley, and the Three Towns. Whether you're raising a cheeky new puppy, working through lead-pulling, or trying to help a nervous dog feel brave, I'm here to make training simple, stress-free, and fun for both ends of the lead.
